This auction is to bid on one item at the time (now serial number #0811) of the product described below.
We have found three dozens of our unique custom-made, Numbered, Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray metal box (FuturePak®) – which we are pleased to offer to our customers on an auction basis.
It is the 3-disc crowdfunded (Indiegogo) product made to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Dario Argento’s classic cult masterpiece.
It includes the movie in both 4K UHD disc (UHD are region-free) and a standard Blu-Ray disc (region B) plus a 3rd Special Features Blu-ray (all-region) which includes new unique featurettes and interviews. Plus a 14 pages booklet.
It is classified as ‘used’ for this auction, but these have never been sold / and therefore the discs have never been used before.
The metal cases, though, having been stored for the last three years may have very small (less than a millimetre) flaws.

Can Betty free herself from this unending nightmare or does a more terrifying fate await? OPERA is a ravishing return to the giallo style Dario Argento made his name with, awash with black-gloved killers, lavish bloodletting and the director’s expressionistic Grand Guignol excess.

Horror Cult Films
Opera looks absolutely stunning in this 2k restoration, taken from a print that Argento, as he mentions in the interview with him, actually stole many years ago when it seemed like everybody wanted to cut the film. What’s always previously seemed to me to be one of Argento’s more muted films in terms of colour is now full of rich and vibrant hues, especially the all important reds that sometimes just creep in, and sometimes jump at you. Image density is fine for a 1987 film and there’s just the right level of grain everywhere. Sound is quite wide ranging yet balanced. The film is presented in both Italian and English, and seeing especially how Cult Films have now provided more accurate subtitles than we’ve had before, both versions are worth watching in their entirety because they have some surprising differences.

The new 4K scan was painstakingly restored by TLE Films* in Germany with the crucially distinct colour palette reinstated in accordance with Argento’s original Technicolor Dye Transfer specification, using period films materials as reference.

The restorers also reinserted all missing frames which had degraded badly or were simply lost over the years, making this version which is premiered by CultFilms the most complete and original looking version of SUSPIRIA, finally doing justice to Argento’s original vision.
