Set against the backdrop of the seismic changes of sexual and revolutions of the 1970s, and adapted from the epoch-making ‘Valentina‘ comic books created by Guido Crepax. The film tells the story of the beautiful Valentina, a famous, trendy photographer.

One night she’s nearly run over by an enigmatic older woman, Baba Yaga (Carroll Baker). We later come to discover that she is not only the devil witch… but also a sapphic predatory witch who must possess Valentina! She is pursued by the sensuous seduction of a now obsessed Baba Yaga. Valentina must either submit to her carnal S&M lust or escape the waking nightmare of perverted realities!

BABA YAGA simultaneously keeps the central dreamy sexiness of the heroine’s wild adventures, while also creating a film full of sophisticated eroticism that is both cerebral, yet gently and intelligently ironic. A sensuous and satisfying watch from beginning to end! 

To this day, the film’s unique mixing of comic strips and live-action remains groundbreaking and influential for filmmakers across the world.
