Taken out of context, the scene actually could be interpreted as the rape victim's attempt to distance herself emotionally from what is happening to her bu keeping her eyes closed and thinking it is someone she cares for that is making love to her instead of a lunatic raping her, something that some real-life rape victims have admitted to having to do to make it through the trauma.
